As one analyzes the chart you can tell that the influx of Chinese immigrants who came to work on U.S railroads drastically rised before the Chinese exclusion act and then suddenly after the passing , drops evidently.

This period begins in early 1893 where the business community in the Kingdom Of Hawaii overthrew the Queen and wanted annexation by President Harrison , who forwarded the proposal to the Senate for it to be approved. But then the next President Cleveland withdrew the proposed annexation; nevertheless, revolutionaries in Hawaii formed an independent Republic of Hawaii wich voluntarily joined the U.S. as a territory in 1898 with full U.S. citizenship for its residents making it part of the United States . It became the 50th state in 1959.This meant in relevance to foreign policy that all Hawaiian islanders abided to the foreign policy before Hawaii was officially declared a U.S state.Joining under the policy of america gave Hawaiian people the chance to move in to the mainland as citizens and be a part of its society. This image shows the Kingdom of Hawaii's symbol before it joined the United States, at the time the symbol was influenced by the Queen. The image on the right is of Hawaii's flag from when it was independent from the U.S.
In the early 19th century the United States invested in more advanced naval technology , during the test of one of their ships there was a undetermined malfunction on the steam powered battleship wich caused it to explode. Since this event occurred of the coast of Havana , Cuba , the explosion was blamed on the Spanish. This sparked the flame of the Spanish –American war , wich lasted only a few months. The reason this affected foreign policy was simply because war caused the two countries to stop all business and trading of goods. This affected both countries somewhat on an economical standard since they couldn’t trade any resources. In the end it caused the U.S to transition from a regional to global power .The war was also a fulfillment of the U.S aim of the Monroe Doctrine which aimed that the U.S should secure the Western hemisphere of colonial European rivalry which could help U.S economic / political interests. From the events that occurred during the first period of my project i was a little surprised but then again not surprised of how the U.S negatively impacted its foreign policy, or at least it affected the other nations negatively. It sometimes came across as if it were a repetitive cycle for America to use its power against something, in this case a country , just to fulfill its personal needs and greed. Sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_U.S._foreign_policy :United States History textbook. The reason i choose to do my website on the topic "Foreign Policy" was because i myself am foreign and it would be interesting to see how i would have been affected if i had been placed in each one of the time periods. In addition i am also interested to see how the nation changes its policy depending on its own convenience for the government or for its people.I hope by the end of this project to learn how each policy passed affected the United States , wich ones had a negative affect and wich ones a positive. Also i would want to learn what effect they had on the nations economical situations.
